Miuchi-sensei let her story become a drama thanks to the casting of Yumi Adachi as Maya and Yoko Nogiwa as Tsukikage. They were  two of the most popular actresses on Japanese television. It's said Glass Mask wasn't made into a drama sooner because there wasn't a young actress good enough to play Maya's part.

One of the main differences is the introduction of a new character, Takuya, Maya's elder brother who doesn't appear in the manga.

This is the only finished version of the story, with a happy ending for Maya and Masumi in the special.
